Two brothers, a car, a lot of courage and an adventure to live; this is how the Hepatitis Zero Expedition will travel the world. Fred Mesquita and José Eduardo decided to do their bonding and seeing the world in a different way:
On board the Carona, an adapted 1998 Toyota Bandeirante, Fred and Joseph will act as ambassadors of the Hepatitis Zero project, for the global eradication of the virus. They will spend three years traveling the five continents, covering almost 180,000 kilometers in fifty countries.
In each country, city and stop in their expedition, Fred and Joseph will carry out tests to identify hepatitis virus sufferers, the type of virus and will also inform the patients how to seek treatment. Hepatitis can be fatal, but if caught in time, the patients may have a 100% cure. In the case of Hepatitis B, there is a vaccine to prevent the disease and there is also a medicine that eliminates completely the virus, which is awaiting approval to enter the market.
